PRESIDENT'S WEEKLY - It's A Great Day to be a Mormon Missionary in the CFM

It’s A Great Day to be A Mormon Missionary in the CFM

Dear Elders and Sisters:

Two accounts from Companionships that should inspire all of us (names have been changed to protect privacy).

First, in the category of "The Lord Hastens His Work and He does the Work!":
"Just a heads up, you are about to get a repeat of the email you sent out!  On Thursday we got a Headquarters referral for a woman named Jenny. [After we] had dinner [we] contacted her. When we knocked on the door, she opened it and said "I was hoping you would come today!" We went inside and she told us how much she wanted to learn about the church. Her father was a less active member and she was never baptized because her mom was anti. A year ago on his death bed her told the chaplain that he was LDS and that really struck her and since then she has been thinking about it and wondering why he claimed that when he hadn't lived it. So she got on mormon.org and chatted with a member and everything she had concerns about was answered through modern day revelation (conference talks, family proclamation, the whole gay marriage thing last year, etc.) We told her and her husband Glen about forever families and taught about the restoration of the priesthood. They were so excited they asked us to come back the next day! So we did, and we taught the rest of the restoration and told Glen how he could have the priesthood to bless his family after he was baptized. He stopped us and said "I don't want to seem up front, but how do I get baptized?" I didn't have words. Thank goodness for Sister 'Companion', she had the answer. We set a date for the 30th and invited them to church on Sunday. They came for all three hours with their kids, Gill and Stevie, and absolutely loved it! Family is very important to them and that was the lesson in gospel principles, and the elders quorum/ relief society lessons were on why we have temples. The Lord has impeccable timing. Last night two of our members went over with cookies and pretty much adopted them into the ward family officially. This family is amazing. The spirit is just teaching them so much and they are so excited. She called this morning and said "We feel very strongly that we need to tithe." They also started keeping food storage about 6 months ago and have a family night every week. They have really strengthened my testimony of modern day revelation and D&C 11:3. The field is white, and these souls are waiting for us to knock on their doors. We just need to exercise the faith necessary to find them, teach them, and baptize them."

Second, in the category of "Go to the Rescue and you'll find People to Teach Repentance to and Baptize":
"Last night, we went to visit some less-actives, the Olsen family, and Sister 'Companion' was wondering why we bother visiting members if it is the home teacher's job. I remember wondering that too, so after explaining what I did know about it I prayed specifically that we Could Fulfill our Purpose by getting to meet some of their friends. Well, they let us in and it turns out they had 4 friends over! We shared a message on the Atonement and my super awesome companion tied it in to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, read Alma 5:62, and challenged them to be baptized! And 2 of them, Kelly and Janie, said yes! We left them with copies of the Book of Mormon, and they were already reading through it when we left. The Spirit was so strong. It was a great way to end the week."

My testimony is that the Lord is Hastening His work and doing all the work to prepare the honest truth seekers and sincere in heart to receive you and be taught how to repent and press forward towards Celestial Glory through the door of baptism.  My witness is that when we assist the Members in the Rescue of the Less Actives, we will find people to teach repentance to who have been prepared by the Lord to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ, again, under the Hastening of the Work!

It's just a great, great day to be a Mormon Missionary in the California Fresno Mission!

Sister Clark and I look forward to being with you in Zone Conference this week!  We can't wait!!!
With much love,

President Clark

Trainer/Trainee and District Leader Trainings 7-2016

Today was a wonderful day.  We met with the Trainers and their trainees in the gym for trainings and the District Leaders met in the Chapel.  It is like musical chairs between the President, the Assistants, and myself, but it is so much fun to be with all of these amazing missionaries!

Elders Rogers and Quinn gave a training on our Missionary Purpose.  This was Elder Rogers' first training - he taught like he has been on his mission for months, not two weeks! And, Elder Quinn is amazing.

Elders Knapton and Carnahan taught the Trainers and Trainees all about planning! We will all be better planners if we heed their advise!  Great job.

The President's assistants, Elders Olson and Speer gave excellent trainings in both meetings, as well as conduct, organize, set-up, and help us with our trainings!  Way to go Elders!

Sisters Jeppesen and Maxwell gave a training on 12 weeks. This was also Sister Jeppesen's first training, she was a pro! Sister Jeppesen and Sister Maxwell are amazing sisters who will bring about much good!

The District Leaders, Trainers and Trainees come together for lunch  . . . they have such a great time together, it does a heart good!
