Serving to the Level of Our Conversion
Dear Elders and Sisters:
It's going to be a wonderful week here in the California
Fresno Mission. We are set to baptize
many people this week and next week and I know the Lord will provide these
miracles of baptism based on our merits as displayed in our obedience,
diligence, and faith. I trust you have
re-doubled your energy and effort you are setting forth as you strive to live
your Missionary Purpose in Exact Obedience at all times showing your love for
the Savior, Jesus Christ.
The motivation for all we do should be our love for the
Savior. The depth and breadth of your
service and commitment to fulfilling your Missionary Purpose will be directly
correlated to your love for Him and your testimony and conversion to His
teachings found in the fullness of His gospel.
No man or woman, and no missionary, will be able to serve at a level
that is deeper or more significant than their love for the Savior and the depth
and breadth of their testimony of and conversion to His Restored Gospel. This principle is eternal!
As you've heard me often say, this is the best thing you
can do to bless the rest of your life.
This has so much to do with your conversion to the gospel of Jesus
Christ that takes place as you serve Him as a called and set apart, full time
missionary. Your time here is
consecrated. It is sacred. And it is set apart for all things
missionary, including your studies of the gospel. You won't be able to achieve learning and
growth and development (conversion) to His gospel in the same manner during the
remainder of your life like you can here.
So please, be truly dedicated, consecrated, and set apart to meaningful
studies. This is the "why" of
our daily studies and teaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ!
If you are experiencing challenges with getting
Investigators to read the Book of Mormon, Pray, Keep the Sabbath Day Holy by
attending church, check your own testimony.
What is your personal witness of these principles conveying to them as
you teach and bear testimony of them?
Then go to work and study and pray some more and build a greater
understanding of and faith in these principles and other gospel principles that
you are teaching. Ask yourself: "Am
I a powerful teacher because I'm familiar with the principles?" or
"Am I a powerful teacher because what I teach is accompanied by and
supported with a powerful testimony of the principles I teach?" You can never discount the conversion power
of testimony that is born from a deep and abiding personal witness.
As we seek miracles from the Lord to achieve the Power of
1,000 baptisms, it just dawns on me that it will require a powerful missionary
force teaching and bearing witness of Him, His gospel and the attendant
blessings of living a gospel, Christ centered life. I know you can be that powerful force as you
seek to be even more converted through your daily studies of His gospel.
We love you and have every faith and belief the miracles
we seek are possible because of who we seek them from.
Love,
President Clark
