Dear Elders and Sisters:
Wow! What a great week and yes, it happened again. We were in Fresno's Stake Conference with Elder Acosta of the Seventy and during the rest hymn in the Saturday evening session he walked over to me and said: "President, will you please teach them how the Lord will reveal names to them" You have twelve minutes."
I already knew it was going to happen because the Lord had already revealed to me the Member to invite up and I had sent a text to the Zone Leaders and Sisters telling them to be prepared to teach the Pamphlets. Well, it was wonderful and Brother Mearns was very prepared. He had just started a new job and was working in a "fertile field" that the Lord had prepared for him. As the Sisters taught him, he knew John needed to hear the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He committed to Invite John, and his missionaries, the Zone Leaders, will follow up. That's what we do: We Invite, They Commit, We Follow Up!
I have heard from Sister Morphy in regards to her friend John whom the Spirit revealed to her needs to hear the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She has done an excellent job and has had a very important gospel conversation with him in regards to service and the Just Serve initiative. I am sure her next conversation will include the words "will you" - the important vernacular all Members should use often. She is a great Member Missionary and I am grateful to her for her timely report.
It is happening all over the mission. So many of you are having the same experiences as you teach the Members! Please pray, teach, testify, and increase their faith and then the Spirit will reveal to them who they should invite to receive the message you are teaching. This is a very different approach than in the past but as we have been taught by an Apostle, it is time to do things differently. IWADWWADTWAGWWAG! And remember the second part of his teaching is that one thing the Lord would have us do differently is to recognize He is hastening and He is preparing and we need to follow the Spirit to know Who He has prepared. What a wonderful time to be a Member Missionary and especially if you are in the Great CFM!
We have been preparing diligently for Zone Conference this week and look forward to being with you. Please come prepared to receive. Please prepare in advance by reading and studying Elder Christofferson's talk; "Free Forever, to Act for Themselves" from October 2014 General Conference.
