We have the privilege of conducting a "Special OPPS Mission" with many youth in the various Stakes we serve in. This acronym comes from D&C 88:74 which states: "And I give unto you, who are the first laborers in this last kingdom, a commandment that you assemble yourselves together, and organize yourselves, and prepare yourselves, and sanctify yourselves; yea, purify your hearts, and cleanse your hands and your feet before me, that I may make you clean;” Hence, Organize: Prepare: Purify: and Sanctify: = OPPS.
This evening we started the Fresno North Stake Special OPPS Mission with 28 of their fine Seniors, many of whom are preparing to serve missions. President and Sister Clark gathered with the Assistants and Zone Leaders as well as Brothers Callister and McCauley to do a "transfer board" placing the young missionaries with their Full-Time Missionary Companions. It was a spiritual experience and we emerged knowing and having re-affirmed to us that God is in all the details of our lives.
They went through training stations, one to be set apart, and another (the favorite) to eat. Then off they go until Sunday evening to serve, full-time, set-apart as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They will be blessed with Teaching opportunities, Finding opportunities, they will study each and every morning and street contact opening their mouths to everyone. They will have some marvelous spiritual experiences that will give them a taste of full-time missionary service and confirm to them the great blessing of participating in the hastening of the work.
